Vicki's mission as a Certified Nutrition Therapist is to encourage and promote balanced and nourishing lifestyles through nutrition and lifestyle support consultation and education. She emphasizes whole, nourishing foods appropriate for individual body types, physical movement, especially in the outdoors and quiet downtime spent in a calm safe place, be it nature, a community space or your kitchen table. Vicki understands that changing habits can be difficult , which is why it is she emphasizes experiential, hands-on programs.
Vicki became certified as a Nutrition
Therapist through the Nutrition Therapy Institute in Denver, Colorado, a comprehensive graduate level two-year holistic nutrition certification
program covers all aspects of clinical nutrition and disease
management. She was also certified as a Personal Trainer and
Corrective Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports
Medicine. Vicki is Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition and is a
Professional member of the National Association of Nutrition Professionals.
Vicki’s foundation in functional nutrition therapy and her understanding of the role that nutrition and fitness play on the physiological and psychological systems has evolved into thorough and comprehensive prevention and therapeutic protocols and programs. Vicki has focused her work in a variety of areas, including chronic stress syndromes as they relate to endocrine health, weight management, dysfunctional eating patterns, and neurological health (depression, anxiety, ADD, and Alzheimer’s).
My Wellness Adventure
Vicki has always had a strong connection to natural health and wellness and to the strength and security that one can feel amongst the elements...therefore, she wanted to protect and care for those natural rhythms. She has a Masters Degree in Geography and Environmental Planning, emphasizing sustainable land use development. She understands the impact that people's everyday decisions can have on the land - especially in correlation to our food choices and land use practices - which ultimately affect the health and ecological balance of the Earth.
After examining local, national and global land-use practices, and studying the growing rates of preventable diseases and obesity; it became clear that the impacts that many of the changes that are occurring as a result of societal development are not only impacting the health of our ecological systems, but are also having an incredible impact on our own health and well-being...body and mind!
Vicki discovered the joys and freedom of becoming friends with her health and body after many years of struggling with her own food and fitness explorations and challenges: vegetarian eating, broken bones, fears, weight management issues...perfectionism and the stress and anxiety that comes with it all! After going through her own adventures and transformations, Vicki knew that helping others achieve their own level of health and wellness was her passion. Vicki wants others to feel food freedom and good life living, too! Vicki knows that how she eats, how she thinks and how (and where) she does and does not move affects her whole being.
