Anita - Director of Public Relations & Lead Outdoor InstructorAnita is a rock climber, mountaineer and so much more. Anita taught yoga for over ten years; was a licensed massage therapist, practicing for fourteen years and running a successful practice with multiple therapists in the Fox Valley area. Anita was also a librarian for six years and is currently working at an indoor rock climbing gym.
Anita's passion for the outdoors stems from her youth, growing up on a farm in Idaho. She is generally happiest when she is outside. Anita is certified as a Wilderness First Responder through NOLS and has also earned degrees in economics and library science. She's also a master knitter, making hats, socks and mittens to keep family and friends warm and toasty. And Anita thoroughly enjoys a cold beer at the end of the trail - she'll even take a PBR if that's all that's available! While having already summited 33 of 54 Colorado peaks over 14,000 ft. in elevation, Anita hopes to complete the remaining 21 peaks by the time she is 70! |
Anita's Special Place:
Joshua Tree National Park, California (or on top of a Colorado 14’er)...or a kitschy town with a marvelous micro-brewery and a wonderful wool & yarn store!

What Empowerment Means to Anita:
For Anita, empowerment is achieved when one sets a goal and does not allow fear to get in their way of achieving their goals. Empowerment is also about trying something new and not allowing the outcome (success or failure) to dictate the pleasure in the pursuit.
