Functional Nutrition Therapy
Wellness programs will be based upon the concerns and goals of each client and developed based upon information supplied by the client; health history, food review and specific metabolic and physical assessments.
Through a personalized functional nutrition analysis, we work to optimize metabolic processes in order to prevent the development of or manage imbalances and dysfunction; such as blood sugar imbalances, chronic inflammation, neurological degeneration, obesity and weight management issues.
Customized programs are a major focus of my practice. Everyone has different nutritional needs and that is why I always customize programs based upon many aspects, including the individual’s body type, food sensitivities and health challenges. I assess everyone on an individual basis and deliver their assessment within a week of the initial session, allowing time for a complete evaluation. In some cases, support strategies may recommend additional testing.
What is Nutrition Therapy?
Nutrition Therapy involves the use of nutrients in whole foods to improve your body’s overall health and well-being. There are hundreds of diets out there that may work for some people but not for others. Each of us has an individual chemistry that requires an individual diet.
I am trained to help you identify what particular nutrients your body needs based on your past and present health challenges and your health goals. Whether your goals are weight loss, alleviating chronic illness, stress management, athletic pursuits, or general discomfort and diminished quality of life, a nutrition therapist can help you achieve your goals in a healthy and holistic way.
Initial Assessment and Program Outline

The initial wellness assessment, is approximately 60-90 minutes, during which we will review your medical, nutrition, and diet history and discuss your concerns in detail. You will be asked to complete a few forms prior to the session which will be discussed during our time together.
The initial nutrition consultation and wellness assessment will review current eating patterns, lifestyle patterns and health history. A Functional Nutrition Analysis can be added as a more comprehensive and individualized analysis, evaluating specific nutrient deficiencies and metabolic imbalances. The Functional Nutrition Analysis is based on your unique biochemistry through a blood chemistry analysis and is strongly recommended for any chronic conditions, weight management concerns or individuals desiring improved vitality or athletic performance.
The Nutrition Therapist will assess the client’s nutritional needs and goals and provide feedback to the client in the form of a Nutrition Assessment & Support Strategies, including nutrition, supplement and lifestyle recommendations.
Follow-up sessions are generally 40 minutes and are sold in packages. Individual programs should be evaluated on a regular basis to ensure compliance and effectiveness. Follow-up appointments are scheduled assist in building skills in the areas of nutrition, exercise and behavior change that are consistent with your health and wellness goals. Sessions can also include lifestyle support home visits for even more effective HOW techniques.
An ongoing supportive relationship will be established and we will work towards making positive sustainable changes. During your program, you'll be completing check-in forms and making status reports so that we may address any problems or questions during the next sessions. Ideally, sessions should be scheduled at least every 2-4 weeks.
Your Functional Nutrition Program will educate, empower and support you in your transition into a healthier and happier being as you develop your intuition around nutrition and learn to easily integrate good food and healthy choices into your life.
Commitment
Nutrition and wellness is NOT something that happens over night, or over one visit. I have been working on my nutrition and wellness for over a decade and I still have improvements to make. If you think that one visit or a visit now and again will get you to where you want to be, you may be fooling yourself. I recommend that clients anticipate a minimum of 3 follow-up sessions. Six sessions, minimum, are the most effective at working through the process and making the necessary changes sustainable and maintainable.
Nutrition therapy is designed to improve your health and support the body’s systems. Reaching the goal of optimum health, absent other non-nutritional complicating factors, requires a sincere commitment and positive attitude. You will likely be making lifestyle changes that may not always be easy.
Since every human being is unique, we cannot guarantee any specific result from the program. Every client is an individual and it is not possible to determine in advance how your system will react to the therapy recommended. It is sometimes necessary to adjust your program as we proceed until your body can begin to properly accept products and techniques geared to correct the imbalance.
